By Metro
The nearest Metro station is Estación del Arte, on Line 1. The Garden is a short walk from the station along the Paseo del Prado.
Other reasonably close stations include Atocha on Line 1 and Banco de España on Line 2.
By train
The venue is within walking distance of Madrid Puerta de Atocha–Almudena Grandes, Madrid’s principal station for high-speed and long-distance trains, and Atocha Cercanías, which serves the regional commuter-rail network.
After leaving the station, walk north along the Paseo del Prado towards Plaza de Murillo and the Museo del Prado. Participants carrying heavy luggage may prefer to take a taxi for the short journey.

Airport Express bus
The Airport Express bus, Line 203, connects terminals T1, T2 and T4 with Atocha and central Madrid. From the Atocha terminus, the Real Jardín Botánico can be reached on foot or by a short taxi journey. The service operates throughout the year, although its city-centre terminus may differ between daytime and overnight operation.
Cercanías train
Passengers arriving at Terminal 4 can take a Cercanías train towards central Madrid. Airport rail services connect Terminal 4 with Atocha and other major Madrid stations. Passengers arriving at terminals T1, T2 or T3 must first transfer to Terminal 4 or use another form of transport.
Metro
The airport is connected to the Madrid Metro network by Line 8. Reaching the venue requires one or more changes, followed by a short walk from Estación del Arte or another central station. Participants with substantial luggage may find the Airport Express, Cercanías or a taxi more convenient.

Travel time depends strongly on traffic conditions.
By bus
Numerous EMT urban bus routes serve the Paseo del Prado, Atocha and the surrounding area. The routes serving the vicinity include 001, 6, 10, 14, 19, 26, 27, 32, 34, 37, 45, E1 and C03, together with several night services. Participants should consult the official journey planner shortly before travelling, as routes may be temporarily diverted.
By car
The venue is in a busy and regulated part of central Madrid. On-street parking is limited, and private vehicles may be subject to Madrid’s access and emissions regulations. Public transport is strongly recommended.
Participants travelling by car should check the current municipal access rules and reserve a commercial car park in advance.
Local area
The Real Jardín Botánico occupies one of Madrid’s finest cultural and historic locations. The surrounding Paseo del Arte district includes:
- the Museo Nacional del Prado;
- the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía;
- the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza;
- El Retiro Park;
- CaixaForum Madrid;
- the neighbourhoods of Barrio de las Letras, Jerónimos and Lavapiés.
The area offers a wide selection of restaurants, cafés, terraces, pharmacies and shops within walking distance. The city centre, including Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor, can also be reached on foot or by a short journey on public transport.
The Real Jardín Botánico itself provides a calm green setting in the centre of the city. Subject to the conference arrangements and the Garden’s visitor regulations, participants may have opportunities to explore its botanical collections during breaks or outside the scientific programme.
